Book Club Kits

Thinking of using my books as book club selections?

I'd like to make that experience as much fun as possible. So, any book club that contacts me at jane.jameson AT hotmail.com will receive:

- A set of discussion questions for the title you're reading.

- A set of signed book plates.

- Bookmarks promoting my next book, plus a sneak preview chapter of soon-to-be released titles.

- Recipes tailored to the book you're reading. For instance, Mama's Pot Pie from the Jane Jameson books or Ugly Cake from AND ONE LAST THING.

- A set of "Book Club Bingo Cards."

I look forward to hearing from you!

Blog and Twitter "Membership Drive"

Hey All,

I am trying to increase my online presence, and would like to get more followers here at the Nice Girls blog and Twitter. To do that, I am turning to you, my dear online friends.

If and when I reach 200 followers, both on Twitter and the Nice Girls blog, I will post a considerable sneak preview of my next book, HOW TO FLIRT WITH A NAKED WEREWOLF, which won't be released until February 2011.

How can you help? Spread the word to your online communities, your reading friends, random people you meet in the grocery store: If you like snarky, quirky romance, this is the place to be!

ETA: I tweet at mollyharperauth

Thanks,
Molly

AND ONE LAST THING: FAQ

I've had several people submit the same sort of questions after finishing AND ONE LAST THING, so I thought I'd save some time and answer them here.

Q: SO WHAT DID YOUR HUSBAND DO TO YOU TO MAKE YOU WRITE A REVENGE FANTASY ABOUT A WOMAN WHO STRIKES BACK AT HER CHEATING HUSBAND AND HIS SECRETARY?

A: Actually, my husband, David, is pretty great. In fact, his general awesomeness and background as a police officer was the inspiration for Monroe, the sexy romantic lead. And he doesn't even have a secretary.

If I was going to get revenge on a cheating partner, my plan would probably involve a tire iron, Super Glue and a bag of chicken feathers.

Q: OK, SO YOUR HUSBAND INSPIRED MONROE, THE GRUMPY-HOT NEIGHBOR WHO HAD TO RETIRE FROM POLICE WORK AFTER BEING SHOT IN THE BUTTCHEEK. WAS YOUR HUSBAND SHOT IN THE BUTT?

A: No, my husband has never been shot. I want to be very clear. David's buttocks are intact.

Q: WILL YOU WRITE A WITTY, BUT HURTFUL, NEWSLETTER ABOUT MY CHEATING EX?

A: No, because I would be sued. A lot.

Q: WILL YOU HELP ME COME UP WITH AN INSULTING NICKNAME FOR MY CHEATING EX?

A: Send me an e-mail, I'll see what I can do.

Q: YOU'VE LISTED THE ACTORS YOU SAW PLAYING THE PARTS IN YOUR JANE JAMESON VAMPIRE SERIES. WHO DID YOU CAST IN YOUR HEAD FOR THE CHARACTERS IN AND ONE LAST THING...?

A:
Lacey - Reese Witherspoon
Monroe - Hugh Jackman
Mike - Ryan Kwanten
Beebee - Charisma Carpenter
Emmett - Joel McHale

Q: Lacey bakes Monroe an "Ugly Cake" as an apology. Is that a real thing?

A: Yes, Ugly Cake is real. But I have to give credit where it's due- it's a slightly modified version of a Cake Mix Doctor recipe.

Ugly Cake

1 box dark chocolate cake mix
5 eggs
1/3 cup oil
1 cup water
8 oz. cream cheese softened
1 cup semi sweet chocolate chips
1/3 cup sugar
1 tsp vanilla

Preheat over to 375 degrees. Coat a bundt pan with your preferred non-stick spray. In a large mixing bowl, blend 4 eggs, oil, water and cake mix until there are no "mix lumps." In a separate bowl, beat cream cheese, vanilla, remaining egg and sugar until smooth. Stir chocolate chips into the cream cheese mixture. Pour cake mix into the pan. Drop spoonfuls of the cream cheese filling into the cake batter, being careful not to let it touch the sides of the pan. The mixture will sink into the batter as it bakes.

Bake for 30 minutes. Test for "doneness" with a toothpick. The edges of the cake should be pulling away from the pan and the visible patches of cream cheese filling should be set. Cool the cake before removing it from the pan, otherwise it will distintegrate into hot cake pudding. (The good news is the hot cake pudding is also pretty dang tasty.) When the marbled, gnarled, weirdly colored patches of cream cheese filling are revealed, you will know why I call it Ugly Cake.

Q: WILL THERE BE MORE BOOKS ABOUT LACEY AND MONROE?

A: I am not entirely sure. Lacey and Monroe's story is told, but maybe there could be more to say about Maya or Lacey's lawyer, Samantha.

Brains and Janes Contest

Presenting...the Brains and Janes Contest, because two Janes are better than one, and zombies can't get enough Brains. Also, we're writers and we like superfluous rhyme schemes.

Your mission: To go to super-agent Janet Reid's blog to complete the following joke, with as much humor and originality as you can muster:

"A monster-slaying governess, a vampire librarian, and a professorial zombie walk into a bar..." That's it! That's all we're giving you. The rest is up to you.

Your reward: Brains and Janes, of course. A copy of Brains by Robin Becker, of Nice Girls Don't Have Fangs, and of Jane Slayre by Sherri Browning Erwin and Charlotte Bronte. Winners will be determined by Robin, Sherri and myself, with a little help from Janet and my own super-agent, Stephany. Go on, impress us! Make us laugh!
