Nice review from Booklist for CARE AND FEEDING

THE CARE AND FEEDING OF STRAY VAMPIRES received a very nice review from Booklist.

Iris Scanlon, of Half-Moon Hollow, Kentucky, is parenting her 17-year-old orphaned sister, and running her company, Beeline, which helps vampires plan their weddings and run their errands, particularly those that can only be done during daytime. While dropping a contract by the home of a new client, Iris finds him on the kitchen floor. Seriously weakened by poison, Cletus Calix, called Cal, a vampire secret agent on the trail of someone who has concocted a drug that creates extreme bloodlust and violent tendencies in vampires, persuades Iris to hide him in her house until he is stronger. Even though Iris’ clients are vampires, she likes to keep her distance, but she desperately needs the money. Iris’ degree in botany and passion for plants help Cal in his investigation as the two start falling in love despite their differences. Harper’s feel-good novel is great beach reading, filled with clever humor, snark, silliness, and endearing protagonists It all adds up to an enjoyable combination of suspense and lighthearted romance.

Playlist for DRIVING MR. DEAD

I am so sorry I haven't posted this before.

In Driving Mr. Dead, I mentioned that the main character, Miranda, is a heavy iPod user and has a lot of playlists to help her cope with driving long distances (and calls from her mother), including the "I Haven't Seen A Starbucks In Three Hours" playlist and the "Jason the Lying Ex-Fiance Called" playlist.  A reader asked me to compile one master list for Miranda, so I made a list of the music I listened to while I was writing.  The upbeat rock-pop songs are usually meant to cheer Miranda up or keep her awake when she's been driving for too long.  The slightly more somber songs were for Miranda and Collin's quieter moments.

"Liar" - Henry Rollins
(Also known as Jason the Lying Ex-Fiance's Ringtone.)

"How You Like Me Now"  - The Heavy

Trouble - Pink
(Because that's Miranda.  Walking, talking trouble.)

"Corrupt" - Depeche Mode
(This is Collin's theme song.   Because, yeah.)

"So What" - Pink

"I Love Rock'n'Roll" - Joan Jett

"Rolling in the Deep" - Adele

"La Grange" - ZZ Top
(For some reason, this song makes me think of road trips.)

"Howlin' For You" - The Black Keys

"Ships in the Night" Matt Kearny

"Dog Days Are Over" - Florence and the Machine

"Juicy" - Better Than Ezra

"Someone Like You" - Adele

"Breathe Me" - Sia

The Care And Feeding of Stray Vampires - A RT Top Pick!

My editor, Abby, was kind enough to send me news of RT's review of THE CARE AND FEEDING OF STRAY VAMPIRES.  It's a Top Pick for July and gets 4.5 stars.

“If you love books with humor & heart, [this] is for you! The irrepressible Harper has a snarky sense of humor that is so fun, and she writes characters you can’t help but fall in love with. A lighter read, this book is a perfect combination of smarts and entertainment with a dash of romance….If it’s a Harper book, you can be certain you’re in for a feel-good time. She has found a place at the top of my ‘must buy’ list.”

BIG NEWS Regarding New Books!

OK, for everybody who has asked whether there will be a third Naked Werewolf book, I finally have an answer!  Yes, there will be a third Naked Werewolf book.  I cannot tell you when it will be released or who will be the main characters will be.  But, they will be connected to the Grundy community and Mo and Cooper and Company.

In addition, I will be writing a e-book original contemporary romance series for Pocket Star, based in Kentucky.  For more information on both projects, go to this fantastic online column written by the lovely Megan Doremus.
